Energy Consumption Statistics and Improvement Activities

To incite broader staff participation in the company`s effort to cut energy consumption, we host an Energy-Saving Contest twice a year.

‘Energy Patrol’ is a special unit in charge of identifying undiscovered energy inefficiencies in our processes or facilities that need to be addressed.

To spread energy awareness across our organization, we designated November as the ‘Energy-Saving Month’ and conduct a company-wide campaign.

Samsung Techwin signed the Voluntary Agreement for Energy Saving with the Korean government and is working toward energy-saving goals set under this agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from our operations.

Economizers, which heat water using exhaust gases, have been installed across our production sites.
Further, by lowering the temperature of water boilers from 130℃ to 80℃, we increased fuel efficiency. These measures resulted in an annual saving on fuel costs of 7.7 million won and slashed our CO2 emissions by 9.5TOE.

Sodium lamps, previously used at our production sites, have been replaced by high-efficiency lamps.
These long-life light bubs not only enabled us a significant saving on maintenance costs, but also helped increase productivity, as they are glare-free and gentler on the eyes.
